DESCRIPTION:Join us for Festa Ħaddiema (Workers’ Fest) on Thursday 1st May\, International Workers’ Day\, between 15:00 and 19:00 at the Council of Europe Garden in Gzira to remember the many workers’ struggles and achievements throughout history and to show solidarity with workers in Malta and around the world. \nThere will be socio-political activities and music performances by  \n\nKarmaġenn\nFunky Monkey\nSean Borg\nEdgar Allan Paul\n\nSolidarjetà will be facilitating a workshop about organising workers at the workplace. \nSammy Meilak\, a veteran dockyard worker and shop steward for many years and Dawn Sammut\, a mechanical engineer and activist\, will be sharing their experiences about work\, workers and workplaces. \nWe invite you to join us and to get some food and drinks to share and a cushion to sit on. Come and bring your friends to celebrate and to express your solidarity with workers.

DESCRIPTION:** POSTPONED TO SATURDAY 17TH MAY\, 15:00 DUE TO WEATHER ** \n On Thursday\, 15th May\, we will march along the Gżira waterfront to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Nakba\, condemn the ongoing genocide in Gaza\, and raise our voices in solidarity for a free Palestine. \n The Nakba – meaning The Catastrophe – refers to the mass killing and expulsion of Palestinians in 1948 to make way for the establishment of the Israeli state. \n What followed – the theft of land and resources\, mass imprisonments\, apartheid\, occupation\, blockades\, and now genocide – represents the continuation of the project of colonisation and oppression by Israel of the Palestinian people. \n We call on Malta’s government\, institutions\, companies\, and citizens to  \n Officially recognise the State of Palestine Enforce an arms embargo Sanction vessels\, aircraft\, and individuals involved in the arms trade supporting the genocide Prevent Israeli war criminals from entering our peaceful islands \n We also call on Members of the European Parliament\, European institutions\, and European companies to  \n Suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement until Israel complies with the rulings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Suspend Israel from participating in sports and cultural events\, including the Eurovision Song Contest\, following the precedent set with Russia after its invasion of Ukraine \n We will gather at the Council of Europe Garden in Gżira at 6:00pm. \n Bring Palestinian flags and keys — symbols of the Palestinian right and determination to return to their stolen homes and lands. \nFREE PALESTINE  \nĠustizzja għall-Palestina | Moviment Graffitti | The Watermelon Warriors | The Lebanese Advocates | Youth for Palestine | Embassy of Palestine in Malta

We’re proposing a renegotiation that would turn Manoel Island into a national park instead of private apartments. This event is to raise funds for that campaign\, which\, of course\, has its costs. The money raised during this event will go directly back into the campaign\, and all musicians and event organisers involved are volunteers. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a community discussion on the anti-gender movement\, led by Maïté de Haan\, Belgian policy officer for the LGBTQI+ rights advocacy organization Çavaria. \nThe rise of the anti-gender movement has significant implications for LGBTQI+ rights\, women’s rights\, and sexual and reproductive rights. What exactly is this movement? Why does it exist? Who are the key actors\, and how do they work to influence society? \nIn this event we’ll examine their strategies\, motivations\, and the broader impacts of their activities. Together\, we’ll explore how we can work collectively to protect and advance gender equality and human rights in the face of these challenges. Maïté’s presentation will be followed by a discussion and a moment to share food\, drinks\, and conversations. \nWe’re meeting Thursday 22nd of May at 6:30 pm\, 67 Strait Street\, Valletta (Moviment Graffitti premises). \nMaïté (they/them) is a philosopher and policy officer in Belgium for Çavaria\, the LGBTQI+ rights advocacy organization. They work on a project titled “Gender Coalition.” This project is funded by the Institute for Equality between Women and Men in Belgium.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an open discussion on the state of women’s health in Malta\, their struggles and the presence of sexist attitudes in the medical sectors. \nWe will meet on the 27th of May\, the eve of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health\, at 67\, Strait Street\, Valletta at 6:30pm. \nThe discussion will begin with informative presentations focusing on endometriosis\, delivered by Dr Angelika Biernacka Buttigieg and PhD researcher Martina Haber. Afterwards\, the public is invited to share personal experiences related to endometriosis or other women’s health issues. Attendees are also welcome to ask questions\, express impressions or concerns\, and share ideas for overcoming the limitations of the current medical system. \nEntrance is free. Please note that the event takes place on the first floor and access is via stairs. \nFollowing the discussion\, we will share some nibbles and drinks.
