DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of ‘Io Capitano’\, followed by drinks and a brief discussion! \nThe 2023 film portrays the journey of Seydou and Moussa\, two young boys from Dakar trying to reach Europe. \nThis movie will be shown a day before the Global Day of CommemorAction for the Dead\, Missing and Forcefully Disappeared at Sea and at the Borders. The Mediterranean Sea in particular remains one of the deadliest border spaces in the world. More than 2\,200 people died in the Sea in 2024\, resulting from many human rights violations by Maltese and other governments. \nAfter the screening\, we will have a brief discussion on the film and Baħar Ċimiterju\, followed by some drinks and nibbles. \nEntrance is free\, and you are welcome to bring your own snacks or purchase drinks from the bar! \nSee you there!

U l-Barracks tal-Ingliżi\, x’se jiġri minnhom? \nIngħaqdu magħna nhar is-Sibt 8 ta’ Frar fl-10.30am għal taħdita pubblika fejn se nkunu qed inwieġbu dawn il-mistoqsijiet u aktar. \n****** \nThe 30-year Fort Chambray saga has always been characterised by controversy and questionable decisions. \nOn 12 December 2024\, the PA approved the demolition of the British Barracks and the development of Fort Chambray into a monstrous complex of apartments\, an aparthotel and commercial establishments. \nThe misinformation that surrounds this project is robbing people of their right to know the truth. The public has the right to know the facts about the project to be able to form an informed opinion. \nFor instance\, will the public be able to access Fort Chambray once it is developed? Who will be financially responsible for the Fort’s restoration\, the Government or the developers? Are the Fort’s clay foundations stable enough for such a massive development? What will become of the British Barracks? \nJoin us on Saturday 8 February at 10.30am for a public talk where we will be answering these questions and more.
