SUMMARY:Community Discussion - Let's talk about HIV
DESCRIPTION:To mark this year’s World AIDS Day\, Moviment Graffitti\, MGRM (HIV Malta) and Checkpoint Malta are jointly organising a community discussion about HIV. \nMalta has the highest rate of HIV diagnosis in the EU at 15.9 per 100\,000 population according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC\, 2022). Over the past decade\, the rate of HIV diagnosis has more than doubled. Yet\, this topic is hardly discussed on a social level. There is still a lot of secrecy and stigma surrounding HIV especially in the wider society. \nWe would like to invite you to participate in this intimate conversation on the subject on Friday 1st December between 6.00 and 8.00 p.m. at Maori\, Valletta. DESCRIPTION:Join us for two evenings of free film screenings dedicated to Palestine. \nThe current situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and in Gaza is so alarming and worrying\, that we must keep a spotlight on it. In the face of the current genocide in Gaza we tend to feel alone and totally powerless. Hence\, we believe it is important to express our solidarity with the Palestinian people in any way possible. We cannot and we should not stop talking about these atrocities. \nĊine-Palestina will be showing two recently-released films concerning Palestine. After each screening there will be a short discussion about the film and the current situation\, as well as nibbles and drinks from our bar. \nFree entrance. \n👉 Farha (2021) – 26th November\, 18:00. Farha tells the story of the 1948 Nakba from the perspective of a young Palestinian girl. \n👉 Gaza Mon Amour (2020) – 3rd December\, 18:00. This romantic drama takes place in the daily life of Gaza. The film is not centred on political/historical facts\, and will immerse you in the landscapes and lives of people in Gaza.

DESCRIPTION:Released just 10 months before her demise\, Nothing Compares is not just a documentary that highlights the artistic talent of Sinnead O’ Connor\, but how she was also consistently vociferous when it came to women’s rights and human rights in general\, her bold stance against the war and her political stand and comments about the Catholic church at the time. A person also described as being ‘ahead of her time’\, the artist was a beacon of truth in a harsh music industry that did and does still impose beauty and behavioural standards on female artists. \nThis documentary is a powerful movie\, with recounts narrated by Sinnead herself\, and those who worked with and/or knew her closely. \nWe shall be showing it at our premises in Valletta on 5th December at 6:30pm.
