SUMMARY:Laying of flowers in memory of Lassana
DESCRIPTION:On the evening of the 6th April\, Lassana Cisse Souleymane was murdered in Hal Far. Two other men were also victims in this attack. \nLassana’s life mattered. He mattered to his family\, to his friends\, and he mattered to us. Such brutal acts of violence cannot and must not be ignored or silenced. \nTogether\, we remember Lassana Cisse Souleymane\, whose life was so callously taken away. \nWe stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who continue to experience violence\, who do not feel safe. \nWe stand in condemnation of racism and wanton acts of hatred. \nWe encourage everyone to come together to denounce this act of violence. \nWe call upon the Maltese Police Force to commit all necessary resources to bring the perpetrators to justice. \nWe call upon Maltese authorities to ensure that all members of Maltese society feel respected\, safe and protected. \nWe will be taking a stand together and laying flowers in memory of Lassana in Hal Far on Saturday\, 27th April at 11am. \nBreaking the chain of inhumanity\, creating a bond of solidarity\,\nShowing respect to the victims\, their families\,\nLaying down flowers of compassion. \nInclusion is an active word\,\nCompassion is an active word\,\nHumanity is an active word. \n******* \nFis-6 t’April filgħaxija\, Lassana Cisse Souleymane ġie maqtul f’Ħal Far. SUMMARY:Celebrating Workers' Day
DESCRIPTION:Join us on the eve of Workers’ Day as we celebrate this important day\, with the film screening of Norma Rae\, based on a true story of a woman who fights for the rights of workers at her workplace. The film’s narrative follows Norma Rae\, a factory worker from a small town in North Carolina who becomes involved in the labor union activities at the textile factory where she works after the health of her and her co-workers is compromised. \nThe film will be followed by a short talk by Kendrick Bondin of GWU who will talk about the current legislation for workers in Malta. \nYou’ll also be able to enjoy some drinks and nibbles after the film.
