DESCRIPTION:The Courts of Law have sensationally declared that the PA permit for Silvio Debono’s monster is “null and void”. \nWe know the fight doesn’t stop here\, but we do have a reason to celebrate this historic courtroom victory. This wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of the residents who have given a very important contribution to this long and difficult campaign: from those who attended protests and meetings\, to those who prepared the banners\, sent their objections to the PA and participated in any way\, including legal assistance. \nWe would like to invite you\, together with your families\, to join us in the a BBQ tar-Rebħa (BBQ for Victory) in Pembroke\, this Friday\, at Martin Luther King. DESCRIPTION:Following the serious building collapses that have happened around the island as a result of construction works\, Moviment Graffitti is organising a protest in front of the MDA offices this Tuesday\, 18th June. DESCRIPTION:Several organisations will hold a Press Conference to state that an informed discussion about the Malta-Gozo tunnel has yet to start. \nWhilst fully acknowledging the need to address mobility challenges experienced by Gozitan workers and students\, there is currently a total lack of studies and information on the utility and impacts of the tunnel. Indeed\, it has not even been established whether a tunnel will actually facilitate mobility between the two islands. \nThe organisations will state that a decision on whether a tunnel is the best solution to mobility challenges should only be taken after independent\, serious and holistic studies have been conducted. DESCRIPTION:On Monday 4th February at 2pm\, the Parliamentary Standing Committee responsible for the Environment and Development Planning will discuss the proposed Corinthia deal. \nThe public is encouraged to attend this meeting. Please bring your ID Card with you as it is needed to access Parliament building. \nThis discussion is being held following a request by a large number of NGOs\, residents’ groups and three Local Councils for an urgent meeting of the Committee to discuss the imminent concession of title\, land and environmental rights to the Corinthia Group (IHI). They had stated that this concession will have repercussions on all stakeholders\, the public and the natural environment\, and that these repercussions will be direct and will contribute to their quality of life. \nMoreover\, they stated that the public has a right to know whether the necessary studies for such a massive development have been conducted and concluded. DESCRIPTION:Now is the time to make our voices heard! \nOn Wed 16th May the public is encouraged to join a protest in Pembroke so that the voices of residents and all those who are concerned with the state of our environment do not go unheard. We will meet at 6pm in the small square in Pietru D’Armenia Street at 6:00pm\, and from there\, we will walk together to the ITS site.Pembroke\, Swieqi and St. Julian’s are threatened by a proposed development on the ITS site that would effectively bury people alive under the long shadows cast by a gigantic 37-storey tower and a 19-storey resort hotel\, unlimited commercialisation\, endless traffic\, and hazardous dust. The objection period has started and the public has until Friday 25th May to formally object to this project with the Planning Authority (PA). You can send your objection by following this link: http://pa.movimentgraffitti.org/permit/1. SUMMARY:(Re)claiming Public Spaces. Queer-Feminist Interventions
DESCRIPTION:Closing our program of activities connected to International Women’s Day is the workshop & talk titled:  \n(Re)claiming public spaces. SUMMARY:Public Meeting - Impact of Proposed Towers to Replace ITS
DESCRIPTION:Residents and NGOs are organising a Public Meeting to present and discuss the proposed project on the ITS site in Pembroke. An application has been filed for a 37-floor tower and a 17-floor hotel to replace the ITS building. Several other high-rise projects have also been proposed in the same area. \n\nWhat will the impact of this project be on ALL the residents of Pembroke\, St. Julian’s\, Swieqi\, and other areas?\nCan we do something about it?\n\nDuring the public meeting\, the main features of the ITS project and their potential impact on residents and the environment will be presented. The way forward will then be discussed. \nThis meeting is strictly a non-partisan event.
