Join us for a community discussion on the anti-gender movement, led by Maïté de Haan, Belgian policy officer for the LGBTQI+ rights advocacy organization Çavaria.
The rise of the anti-gender movement has significant implications for LGBTQI+ rights, women’s rights, and sexual and reproductive rights. What exactly is this movement? Why does it exist? Who are the key actors, and how do they work to influence society?
In this event we’ll examine their strategies, motivations, and the broader impacts of their activities. Together, we’ll explore how we can work collectively to protect and advance gender equality and human rights in the face of these challenges. Maïté’s presentation will be followed by a discussion and a moment to share food, drinks, and conversations.
We’re meeting Thursday 22nd of May at 6:30 pm, 67 Strait Street, Valletta (Moviment Graffitti premises).
Maïté (they/them) is a philosopher and policy officer in Belgium for Çavaria, the LGBTQI+ rights advocacy organization. They work on a project titled “Gender Coalition.” This project is funded by the Institute for Equality between Women and Men in Belgium.
